Suspected gang member arrested in Merced

MERCED, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man was arrested for his alleged connection to a criminal street gang in Merced, Merced police said.

According to the deputies, the rapper “GB” from Merced is among the 41 people arrested in the operation

According to police, an officer with the Gang Violence Suppression Unit observed Craig Turner, a suspected known gang member, in the 1100 block of Loughborough Drive on Friday. Turner was wanted on an arrest warrant.

When officers spotted Turner, they attempted to flee the suspect on foot. During the pursuit, Turner discarded a firearm in the 1000 block of Loughborough Drive. After a brief pursuit, Turner was arrested without further incident.

According to Merced Police, Turner is prohibited by law from possessing firearms because he is a gang member. He was arrested on his outstanding warrant and on weapons charges. He was then transported to the Merced County Jail and booked into custody.
