The Night Auditor is a loud, sexually charged game with heart – Splash Magazines

Roger Matheys The current theater production THE NIGHT AUDITOR describes the events in a hotel in Los Angeles. The action takes place in the lobby. The story concerns beam (played by Mathey) as he reflects on his life on the night shift. Calling himself a failed writer, Ray feels like he’s wasting his life but doesn’t know how to fix it. Ray grows older without finding the success that has eluded him and tries his best to remain polite to his colleagues and hotel guests while facing a less than promising future.

Ray’s main ally is another hotel employee, Jack(Christian Sanders), a reserved wannabe actor who has also given up on his dream and moves to Portland with $4,000 in ill-gotten money. Jack tries to convince Ray to join him, but first the two have to survive the night. And what a night it is. Ray is bombarded with stress, drama and comedy as a parade of losers check in and out of the hotel.

Among them are Mr Wattan Australian sex toy seller; Sunflowera playful homeless woman who volunteers to test these toys in exchange for shelter; Carrie, a famous porn star; and Tourette sufferers, Mrs. Turing Who wonders whether obscenities keep cropping up in the events? Even Avengelyna (referring to Los Angeles icon Angelyne) drops by to spice up the action.

The cast performs to bring energy and humor to the show. The outstanding achievements here include: Believe Lavon as Khandi, Josh Evans who plays Kyle, Julia Stansbury in a hilarious twist as Mrs. Turing, Martin Berishaj who confidently appears as Eddie, Bret McGlew as Julius And Libby Letlow Who is the right one? Evangelyna.

Mathey, who not only stars but also wrote, produced and directed, tells stories he saw while working at a three-star hotel in Los Angeles. In the printed program he also bravely speaks about his own ups and downs and tells us that this will be his last production due to a recently diagnosed degenerative disease.

“I wanted to do something good,” says Mathey, “with a show that I wrote, directed and acted in. A show about something personal and in the memory of a lost friend, bringing together a cast and crew of people. “I’ve worked with them over the years and get the chance to work with them again.”

While the character of beam is that of a failed writer, Mathey himself is anything but that. He has been working in the theater world for 45 years. He ran his own production company, Seat of Your Pants Productions. As a playwright, designer, producer and director, he has been involved in over 200 plays And Actor. He won the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award and an LA Weekly Theater Award for his work on Trainspotting. Mathey’s legend is great, his body of work unforgettable.

“The Night Auditor” hits you like a speeding bullet. It speaks from the heart because it is a tribute to everyone who came to LA with a dream. While there is plenty to laugh about, beneath the surface there is also emotion and heartbreak. It’s a production worth checking out.
