75-year-old woman dead in car accident in Over-the-Rhine

CINCINNATI – A 75-year-old woman is dead after causing a car accident in Over-the-Rhine Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Cincinnati police said the woman was driving her 2012 Chevrolet Cruze east on West Liberty Street at Central Parkway after 3 p.m. Tuesday when she ignored a red light and struck two different vehicles. She then turned south on Central Parkway and headed south in the northbound lanes.

According to police, the woman drove off the left side of the street, hit a curb and then hit the side of a building. Her car came to a stop at 1100 Central Parkway.

The woman, who was not identified, was taken to UC Medical Center, where she later died. Police said excessive speed and impairment were not believed to be factors in the crash.

Witnesses to the accident are asked to call the CPD Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
