Death toll in Russia’s attack on Kharkiv on May 31 rises to seven

The death toll from a Russian missile attack on Kharkiv’s Novobavarskyi district on the night of May 31 has risen to seven, Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported on June 1.

Four men and three women were killed in the attack. Search operations are ongoing as two more women may be trapped under the rubble. Syniehubov said.

Russian missiles hit three locations on the night of May 31st in the city – a five-story residential building, a sewing workshop and a shop.

The governor said shortly after the attack that another attack on the same spot in the city would be a “Double tap‘ attack, in which Russian forces wait for rescue workers and police to arrive before attacking the same location again and causing greater damage.

At least one paramedic was injured in the attack.

Russia recently increased attacks against Kharkivwhich had a population of 1.4 million in 2021, with the use of missiles, glide bombs and drones, the destruction of energy infrastructure and Killing of civilians.
