65-year-old woman dies after falling in e-bike accident in Boulder Creek

A 65-year-old woman has died after she likely crashed her e-bike and subsequently fell into Boulder Creek in Boulder Canyon on Friday, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a news release.

SHERIFF OF BOULDER COUNTY

According to the press release, the city and county received calls shortly before 4:30 p.m. about a body floating face down in the creek. This triggered a major operation by several agencies.

Initial reports from investigators indicate that the victim and her husband were riding e-bikes on the bike path near the creek when she fell off her bike and into the water near Boulder Canyon Drive and Four Mile Canyon Drive.

Rescuers eventually found the unconscious victim near the 40-mile marker of Boulder Canyon, just west of the popular swimming area. She was pulled from the water and rescuers began CPR. These efforts continued when the victim was taken to the hospital, but she died there.
