One person killed in car crash west of Clarkesville

One person was killed and another injured in a car crash west of Clarkesville Friday afternoon.

According to Rob Moore, spokesman for the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. on Highway 115 near Half Moon Court.

Witnesses at the scene said that the accident involved an old pickup truck. Because of the accident, the highway near the accident site was closed for almost four hours. The highway was reopened on May 31 shortly before 5 p.m.

Habersham County EMS transported one person by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. The other occupant of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident but has not yet released any names.
