After nearly 44 years of public service at the Port of Everett, Assistant Controller & Records Officer Carolyn Diedrich retired May 1.

Mallory Good, the port’s new deputy controller, has taken over most of Diedrich’s role. Good’s position manages complex accounts within the Port’s financial system and supports the Finance Director.

“I would like to thank Carolyn for her many years of dedicated service to the Port of Everett and its many residents.” said Port of Everett CEO Lisa Lefeber. “As the longest-tenured employee in the Port’s history, she has not only witnessed many changes at the Port, but has also helped manage the Port’s finances for nearly four decades, with 26 years of clean financial audits. We wish Carolyn all the best for her well-deserved retirement.”

At 44, Diedrich surpasses the employment record of recently retired Jim Weber. Weber retired as the port’s Marina Operations Director after 43 years of full-time employment – although his part-time employment added up to a total of 47 years at the port. Together they have given 91 years of service to the Port of Everett.

After taking accounting and payroll courses at Everett Community College, Diedrich was hired as the port’s receptionist/accounts receivable technician in 1980. She was just 17 years old.

It wasn’t long before she moved to the finance team. Diedrich has held numerous accounting and administrative roles over the years, specializing in accounts payable, human resources, payroll, accounts payable, assets, records management and more. She ended her career as Assistant Controller, a position she had held since 2019. During her time at the port, Diedrich also served as a records officer.

“I enjoyed getting to know all these parts of the harbor” Diedrich said. “It’s much more than a marina – especially if you work in finance. Added to this are the port’s international seaport and real estate developments.”

Good followed in big footsteps, joining the Port of Everett in July 2023. He brought 12 years of experience in accounting management and financial systems. Before joining the port, she worked as an accounting manager for Snohomish County and as a tax accountant for Kieckhafer, Schiffer & Company.

“I look forward to contributing to the port’s continued growth and success together with the team.” Well said. “While the transition may have its challenges, I approach it with a growth mindset and a willingness to learn.”

Good is a graduate of Washington State University and earned her master’s degree in accounting with a concentration in tax and her bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting.

“I was grateful for the opportunity to join the Port of Everett because the port’s commitment to economic development and public responsibility aligns with my values.” Well said.
