Woman arrested after her child tests positive for meth

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Mississippi (WMC) – A Lafayette County woman is in jail after a child was tested positive for methamphetamine.

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department received a report of the positive test from Child Protective Services on May 27.

A few days later, 24-year-old Teresa Mendez Figueroa of Abbeville was arrested and charged with child endangerment.

Figueroa was jailed on $40,000 bail, but the bail was later revoked because she had already been released from prison on bail for a felony charge.

She is in jail in Lafayette County awaiting trial.
