BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Mamma Mia! The Greek Festival is back in town this weekend at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Buffalo.

The first Greek Heritage Festival was held in 1977 to familiarize the Queen City with Greek culture, faith, food and entertainment. Despite its humble beginnings, the Greek festival has grown into a special three-day event of live music and dancing, not to mention the food.

Gyros and spanakopita are on the menu, as well as multiple pastries for those with a sweet tooth. Desserts can be enjoyed at the Kafenion, or coffee shop, and accompanied by coffee or tea. Continuous live Greek music will be played in the catering tent and bar tent by bands such as The Grecian Strings and Ellada Live Band. Greek and Hellenic dancers will perform throughout the day.

The festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $3 and children 12 and under get in free. An ATM is available if needed.
