CMPD provides update on investigation into fatal police shooting – WSOC TV

CHARLOTTE – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department announced Friday that it will provide an update on the investigation into a fatal shooting that left four officers dead and four others injured in east Charlotte about a month ago.

CMPD has scheduled a press conference for Friday at 6:30 p.m. after Channel 9’s evening news, where police will provide an update on the shooting that occurred on Galway Drive on April 29.

The shooting occurred as members of a U.S. Marshals task force attempted to arrest a suspect wanted on a weapons charge. CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings said the suspect opened fire, killing four people: CMPD Officer Joshua Eyer, Deputy U.S. Marshal Thomas Weeks, Investigator Sam Poloche and Investigator William “Alden” Elliott.
