Storms will soon roll into metro Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. — Metro Atlanta residents are expected to experience a sunny Saturday afternoon and a rainy Saturday evening, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.

Then, the rains could continue until Tuesday, according to forecasters. The highest chance of rain is Sunday evening, where the chance is 50 percent.

High temperatures Saturday could be around 82 degrees; however, the temperature is expected to drop as soon as possible showers and thunderstorms arrive in the area.

Temperatures could be in the 80s over the next few days, according to the weather service forecast.

AccuWeather predicted actual humidity and temperatures in the 90s. Forecasters say Tuesday night’s storms could be severe.

As of 3 p.m. Friday, the National Weather Service forecast the following for the Atlanta metro area:

This afternoon: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. East wind around 10 mph.

This evening: Partly cloudy, with a low around 63. East wind around 5 mph.

SATURDAY: Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Saturday night: Slight risk of showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m., then slight risk of showers between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m., then risk of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. South wind around 5 mph. The chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Sunday: Risk of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m., then risk of showers between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., then risk of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. South wind around 5 mph. The chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

Sunday night: 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 66.
