Man arrested and sentenced after standoff at northeast Fresno grocery store in 2022

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) – The man arrested after an hours-long standoff at a northeast Fresno grocery store has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

Pheng Vang learned of his fate in a Fresno County courtroom on Friday morning.

He had previously pleaded not guilty to the charges of fleeing from an officer, receiving stolen goods and vandalism.

They stemmed from an incident in August 2022.

According to officials, Vang was involved in a burglary at a home in the Caruthers neighborhood.

He fled from authorities and hid in a Save Mart store for two days, where he eventually fell through the ceiling and was arrested.
