There is an update on Allie Shehorn’s brutal attack.

Actor Nick Pasqual, the makeup artist’s estranged boyfriend, has been charged with attempted murder, first-degree burglary in the presence of a person and assault on a spouse, domestic partner, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend or parent of a child, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced on May 29.

If convicted, Pasqual could face the maximum sentence of life in a state prison, the press release said.

Although Shehorn is not identified as Pasqual’s victim in the press release, the statement says that at 4:30 a.m. on May 23 – the same day as Shehorn’s attack, her friends told KTLA – Pasqual broke into an estranged friend’s Los Angeles home, where he stabbed her multiple times.

Pasqual allegedly fled the scene and was arrested at a border checkpoint in Texas between the U.S. and Mexico, the press release said. The statement said he will be extradited to Los Angeles County.

Police confirmed to E! News that Pasqual was arrested. The date and location of the alleged attack matched details of the attack on Shehorn that her friends told KTLA.

The prosecutor’s press release also states that the victim filed for a restraining order against Pasqual days before the attack. E! News obtained a restraining order that Shehorn filed against Pasqual on May 20 – just days before Shehorn’s attack – as well as the court order granting the request. In her restraining order, she accused Pasqual of raping and choking her on April 14 and beating her with a belt on January 29.

After Shehorn’s stabbing, her boyfriend Jed Dornoff – who also started a GoFundMe campaign for her along with Emily MacDonald – said in an Instagram post that Shehorn’s alleged attacker had been arrested at the Mexico-Texas border, according to the Los Angeles Department’s Domestic Violence Unit.

E! News reached out to a representative for Pasqual for comment but did not receive a response.

In his statement, District Attorney Gascón not only expressed his best wishes to the victim, but also made her a promise.

“My thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the victim of this horrific incident,” he said. “Our office, including our Victim Assistance Services, offers her our support and resources as she embarks on the long and difficult road to healing from the physical and emotional trauma inflicted upon her. This heinous incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence. We will ensure that the person responsible for this egregious act is held accountable for their actions.”

On May 23, Shehorn was found after being stabbed more than 20 times in her home, according to her friends’ GoFundMe campaign. She was discovered by Christine White, who described herself as Shehorn’s surrogate mother to KTLA, and taken to the hospital, where she has undergone three surgeries so far.

After the attack, the 35-year-old’s friends informed the public about her condition.

“Allie Shehorn is making positive steps in her recovery,” Dornoff began a May 29 Instagram post that showed Shehorn on her feet in the hospital. “There is still a very long road ahead, but she is tackling it with courage and determination.”

And his post was soon filled with love from supporters cheering on the special effects artist from near and far.

“May you recover well and come back stronger than ever,” one user wrote. “I know I’ve only worked with you once, dear Ally, but I know you are a wonderful person inside and out. My heart goes out to you.”

Another added: “Damn it woman!!! Out of bed and standing?!!! You bet!! We’ve got you covered girl!!! We’ve got an army of us behind you! You can do it!!”
