During the storms on Friday morning, several traffic accidents were reported on the highways in the Houston area

HOUSTON – Traffic is backed up on highways in the greater Houston area after severe thunderstorms moved through southeast Texas Friday morning.

At least six accidents were reported by 9:39 a.m.

Houston TranStar reports the following accidents:

  • A three-vehicle crash closed all main lanes of I-10 eastbound westbound before Mercury Drive. The crash was reported at 9:19 a.m.

  • A two-vehicle crash involving a heavy truck has resulted in a hazardous material spill and closed at least two lanes on IH-69 northbound at Reading Road in Fort Bend County. The crash was reported at 7:14 a.m.

  • A one-vehicle crash closed the left shoulder of the southbound Gulf Freeway at the intersection of SH-3 and Monroe Road. The crash was reported at 9:39 a.m.

  • A two-vehicle crash closed two lanes on westbound 610 South Loop at Long Drive. The crash was reported at 8:38 a.m.

  • A two-vehicle crash closed at least three lanes on the Gulf Freeway at Telephone Road. The crash was reported at 9:43 a.m.

  • A two-vehicle crash closed at least three lanes on the northbound Eastex Freeway at 610 North Loop. The crash was reported at 7:41 a.m.

  • A two-vehicle crash forced at least three lanes of northbound Eastex Freeway to be closed at Parker Road. The crash was cleared at 9:21 a.m.

  • At least three lanes were closed on 290 Northwest eastbound to Hegar due to a one-vehicle crash. The crash was reported at 9:30 a.m.

The cause of these accidents has not yet been disclosed. It is not known whether any injuries were reported.
