Buffalo Tom Jump Rope Review

Buffalo Tom

Jumping rope

★★★★

SKINNY

ALTHOUGH the alternative rock era was the rising tide that lifted their boat, Buffalo Tom always sounded more mature, more soulful than his grunge contemporaries. Like a weathered flannel shirt, their big-hearted, big-hearted college rock has only grown warmer and more comforting over the years, and their tenth album – the fourth since a quiet but welcome reunion in 2007 – maintains their clever balance between murderous melancholy and triumphant hope.

The enthusiastic Come Closer is a highlight, Bill Janovitz screaming into the void, the tremolo guitar sighing behind him, the piano intensifying the heroism, while Little Ghostmaker’s country ballad Stones proves once again that the bassist and singer casual Chris Colbourn is their secret weapon. In truth, there’s little here that wouldn’t belong to the 1992 breakthrough. Let me cometheir warm, enduring embrace making Buffalo Tom a band you can grow old with.
