One dead, two injured after motorcycle and car collided

A man died Tuesday after the motorcycle he was driving collided with an SUV on East 38th Street.

First responders were called to the scene around 6:42 p.m

Erie police said the motorcyclist struck the SUV at a high rate of speed as it turned west from Marion Street onto East 38th Street.

Officials at the scene said the collision caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from his bike and thrown into the back of the SUV, which also flipped onto its roof.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Police said one of the two passengers in the SUV was transported to UPMC Hamot. Both are considered to be in stable condition.
