Man shot dead by relative who tried to hide in his house after car thefts in Lehigh Acres

A man is dead after stealing cars and breaking into a relative’s home in Lehigh Acres on Wednesday night, officials say. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says Ja’Darian Graham, 23, is accused of attempting to steal four cars while armed. The LCSO says he shot at cars and the ground and told people to get out. The Sheriff’s Office says Graham drove a stolen car to his relative’s home on John’s Avenue. He fired shots at the home and into the front yard. The homeowner’s girlfriend ran out the back door of the home. Graham broke into the home and searched for the homeowner, who was his relative. The LCSO has not identified the relative at this time. According to LCSO, the homeowner armed himself and was shot in the elbow before firing back, killing Graham. Officers confirm Graham began stealing cars at Lee Boulevard Plaza but failed and left the car in the same location. He continued his attempts until he stole a car from the Lehigh Discount Liquor Store. He drove that car to John’s Avenue. According to LCSO, he shot at cars and the ground and ordered people to get out.

The sheriff’s office said Graham drove a stolen car to his relative’s home on John’s Avenue. He fired shots into the house and front yard. The homeowner’s girlfriend ran out the back door of the house.
