Mother speaks out after her former best friend was accused of sexually abusing her son – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

AUGLAIZE COUNTY – A mother said she has made it her life’s mission to see a man who was once her best friend in prison.

As reported in News Center 7 at 11am, Matthew Storer is charged with two counts of sexual abuse and three counts of sexual abuse of a minor.

According to investigators, he is accused of abusing four other children.

The mother, Ashlie, said her son once viewed Sotrer as a role model, but now she thinks he is a monster.

“I remember praising him when my best friend wanted to take him on and he basically wanted to be a positive role model in my life,” she said.

She said she never suspected anything was wrong.

“He took them to baseball games … he drove them out of town a few times, just for fun,” she said.

When her son turned 16, he opened up to her.

“He just kept saying, ‘Mommy, it’s so weird. It’s so weird. It’s so weird. Nobody’s going to believe me. Nobody’s going to believe me.’ And I told him, ‘Baby, I believe you and that’s all that matters,'” she said.

An Auglace County judge told Storer he needed $375,000 to get out of prison.

On Thursday he appeared in court for the first time, but it will not be his last.

“We’ll be there and I really wish I had seen his face today,” Ashlie said.

Their son is now 20 years old and they are going to therapy to deal with the abuse he allegedly experienced.
