52-year-old man arrested after incident in northern Dauphin County

A 52-year-old man was arrested Thursday following an incident in Halifax Township.

Pennsylvania State Police-Lykens responded to a report of a Protection from Abuse Act (PFA) violation at a residence on Elmer Avenue.

Shawn Vann of Halifax broke into the home, confiscated firearms and left the property on foot, police said.

The Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response Team was activated and a search was initiated. The residence and a nearby barn were searched, but Vann was not found there.

Vann was found at a local campground and taken into custody by Pennsylvania State Police.

According to court records, Vann was charged with trespassing.

Police had previously asked the public to avoid the Elmer Avenue area of ​​the community. The area is located two to three miles south of Millersburg, near Route 147, which runs parallel to the Susquehanna River. At around 7 p.m., police confirmed that one person had been arrested and roads in the area had been reopened.
