Teenage suspect arrested after shooting in traffic

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a teenager after he opened fire at a busy intersection. Someone on a road in Anderson County, South Carolina, opened fire in traffic on Wednesday, shooting another person and causing a crash, officials said. Shale Remien of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting occurred at the intersection of Michelin Boulevard and West Whitner Street. “We know one person was shot in the leg and as a result, due to their injuries, they accidentally collided with another car,” Remien said. She said the driver suffered minor injuries. Officials are still searching for the person, who Remien said fired across two lanes of traffic, hitting the victim in the third lane. “Fortunately, no pedestrians in the middle lane were struck and this is an isolated incident that is still in the early stages of the investigation,” Remien said. On Thursday, the ACSO arrested a 17-year-old juvenile on charges of attempted murder and discharging a firearm at a vehicle. The teen is currently in custody at the Anderson County Detention Center awaiting a bail hearing, officials say.
