Griffin shot a woman with a rifle inside her apartment building on Pennsylvania Street on Thursday, November 10, 2022. The woman was able to escape and enter her apartment. Prosecutors say Griffin then intentionally fired several shots at the door, trying to gain entry. Griffin eventually left when he was unable to break in. Griffin and the victim did not know each other. The woman was treated for a leg injury.

Minutes after the shooting, Griffin went to a nearby clinic on Virginia Street. Once inside, the video shows Griffin intentionally firing a shot into a wall inside the clinic lobby. Two security officers then intervened and tried to take the rifle.

7 News spoke with one of the guards a few days after the incident. Reynaldo Beckford told journalist Yoselin Person: “I would be lying if I told you that I wasn’t afraid for my life and that the first thing that came to my mind was my baby who just turned three years.”

Additional shots were fired from Griffin’s gun during the struggle. The guards were eventually able to gain control of the gun and Griffin until police arrived.
