“Being his mother was the greatest honor and the best thing I have ever done,” Mansoor said.

Mansoor said the family dog, a husky they had owned for eight years, had never shown aggression before this incident.

As they mourn their loss, Mansoor and her family hope that others can learn from their story and be cautious when handling dogs around young children.

“It could be any dog at any time. For no reason at all, no matter what the history is,” said Mansoor.

The family decided to make Ezra an organ donor in the hopes of saving the lives of other children, giving them some peace during this tragic time.

Mansoor said she has enjoyed every second of being a mother and urged others not to take the time they spend with their children for granted.

“Really pray for the whole family, the whole family loved him so much. I know everyone is grieving right now, we are grieving right now, and it’s going to be a lifelong process to process this,” Mansoor said.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this case according to standard protocol.

The family dog responsible for the attack was taken to Young Williams Animal Center, according to Mansoor.
