Commerce City police say a necklace could have potentially saved a man’s life by deflecting a bullet

By Associated Press

According to police in Colorado, the sturdy necklace likely saved a man’s life by deflecting a bullet fired at his neck.

The bullet got stuck in the approximately ten millimeter wide, silver-colored metal chain during the shooting on Tuesday evening in Commerce City, a suburb north of Denver.

The shooting occurred during an argument. The victim, whose identity was not released, suffered only a minor stab wound, Commerce City police wrote in a statement posted on Facebook.

Police were unsure what material the necklace was made of but doubted it was silver, a soft metal that would likely not withstand a bullet, the statement said.

According to police, the shooter was arrested for attempted murder.

According to court records, he was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
