Rape case: Man arrested after encounter in rape case | Bhopal News

Bhopal: A man was arrested for raping a woman on Wednesday morning after a brief encounter in Bhind. The survivor and her family had moved to Malanpur just 15 days ago. On May 28, the survivor was alone at home when the accused pushed open the door of her house at around 1.30 pm. She hid under the bed but the accused dragged her out, attacked her and raped her. The survivor told police that a neighbour had witnessed the crime but instead of helping her, he laughed and locked the door from outside. The accused then fled the scene leaving her unconscious. After some time, neighbours found her and when she regained consciousness, she contacted her parents. Later, a woman police officer took her to Gohad Hospital in her car where doctors treated her. The survivor was treated at a government facility. During investigation, cops found that the accused was near an industrial area. On Wednesday, police found the accused and asked him to surrender. But he fired a shot at the police. In response, the police also fired, hitting the accused in the leg. The accused was subsequently arrested and a 12-caliber gun, one cartridge and two empty cartridge cases were recovered from his possession. tnn
