Israel’s war against Gaza live: “Relentless nightmare” for tired Palestinians | News on the Israel-Palestine conflict

Al Jazeera reports from outside Israel because the Israeli government has banned it.

Benny Gantz’s party joined Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government on October 7 and is part of an emergency coalition.

Disagreements have arisen since then, and Benny Gantz threatened Prime Minister Netanyahu earlier this month that he would resign from the war cabinet if he did not agree to a post-war plan by June 8.

Now his party has submitted a bill to dissolve the Knesset. It remains to be seen whether this will pass, as they would need a majority, and that seems unlikely given that the current government has only eight seats.

But Benny Gantz has made it very clear what he expects from this post-war plan. Shortly before, Gadi Eisenkot, an observer of the war cabinet, had also called for new elections and the dissolution of the current government.

And all this while international pressure on the Prime Minister is increasing and protests are increasing in the country, especially from the families of those imprisoned in Gaza, who are demanding a ceasefire as soon as possible.

Opposition leader Yair Lapid is also meeting with other opposition party members to explore ways to overthrow the current government.

And Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is meeting with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for the first time in weeks, as he also has reservations.
