Canandaigua man arrested and charged with raping underage girl

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) — A Canandaigua man was arrested and charged with rape and receipt and possession of child pornography after police searched his home and digital devices.

Prosecutors said police began investigating 28-year-old Joshua AbrilAlicea when Snapchat alerted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to files that may have contained child sexual abuse material.

When police raided AbrilAlicea’s home on April 26, prosecutors saw him with an underage girl. Investigators determined that AbrilAlicea had sexual intercourse with the minor, who sent him nude photos on Snapchat.

If convicted, AbrilAlicea faces between five and twenty years in prison.
