TEA PARTY, a new play by Sean Abley. Directed by Lara D. Haberberger.

Synopsis

Frank, a married heterosexual transvestite in his thirties living in Montana, discovers Miss Olivia’s Finishing School for Girls, a club for other recreational transvestites. Finally able to share his secret with another like-minded man, Frank’s newfound freedom threatens his marriage and his relationship with his best friend.

September 13-October 5, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m.

2024 New Play Reading Festival by members of FLB’s Playwright Wing. Led by members of the FLB Director’s WIng.

Synopsis

Ten new complete plays will be performed as stage readings. Each piece will be developed and rehearsed by the director’s wing and the acting ensemble of FLB members. From these readings, First Look Buffalo Theater Company will choose its 2025-26 mainstage season.

December 6-15. Titles and show times will be announced at a later date.

THE DAY I LEARNED TO FLY, a new play by Wendy-Marie Martin. Directed by Jason Francey.

Synopsis

One day, while walking her dog Daisy, fifteen-year-old Hattie was struck by a direct hit of blazing 100 million volts of electricity and Super Hattie was born. Super Hattie instantly became fluent in the language of flashes, sparks, zzzzts and screams and learned to use them to her advantage. Five years later, Super Hattie has perfected her ability to read minds and resist incredible pain, but she still hasn’t learned to fly. Will she finally find the courage to get rid of her fears and fly?

Synopsis

In short, an act takes place in the same place, in or around a carpool car.

From March 21 to April 6, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. Sunday at 2 p.m.
