Tourist from Maharashtra killed in paragliding accident | News from India

KULLU: A 57-year-old tourist from Thane, Maharashtra, met his death in a paragliding accident at Raison village in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday.

Gautam – part of a tourist group on a paragliding expedition – and his pilot crashed during takeoff. They were rushed to Kullu Civil Hospital, where Gautam was declared brought dead, police said. The pilot is out of danger.

The district administration is investigating the accident and whether the pilot had a valid license. Earlier in February, a 26-year-old woman from Telangana died when she fell on a house after her paragliding harness broke in mid-air in Dobhi village near Manali, prompting the administration to shut down the sport.

On December 24, 2022, a 30-year-old tourist from Maharashtra died under similar circumstances in Dobhi. Earlier, a 20-year-old tourist and his pilot died in a paragliding crash in Dobhi.
