Video shows brawl in Nashville and fatal shooting in Red Caboose Park

US News

A disturbing video shows a victim screaming in pain after a teenager opened fire during a wild brawl in a park in Nashville, Tennessee, that left a 13-year-old boy dead and his 16-year-old sister injured.

Two groups of teenagers met shortly before 8 p.m. in the parking lot of Red Caboose Park in the city’s Bellevue Park neighborhood to resolve an ongoing dispute between the groups, the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department said.

In a harrowing video posted on social media purporting to show the chaotic moments leading up to the shooting, two teenagers can be seen fighting on a lawn as a large crowd of people egg them on.

Suddenly, several shots ring out through the noise and the crowd suddenly falls silent as everyone runs for their lives.

The video goes dark as the shooting begins.

A person can be heard screaming in pain and repeatedly shouting, “I got hit! I got hit! I got hit!”

More shots ring out.

“Get in the car! Get in the car,” a woman is heard shouting urgently as the victim continues to scream in pain.

According to police, the injured 16-year-old girl made it to a fire station up the street from the park and reported the shooting to the firefighters stationed there, who then called the police and began treating the girl.

Police quickly arrived at the scene and found the girl’s brother, 13-year-old Aayden Hayes, lying on the parking lot sidewalk with numerous gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital where he died, police said.

The girl, whose identity could not be determined, was also taken to hospital and is expected to survive.

Police found a suspect, later identified by authorities as 15-year-old De’Anthony Osasosifo, walking along the highway about a half-mile from the park and took him into custody.

In a conversation with investigators, he admitted to owning the weapon and firing it during the fight.

The gun was later found by an ATF sniffer dog along the route Osasosifo had taken to escape.

The 9mm semi-automatic pistol was reported stolen from a vehicle in Murfreesboro in 2023.

Bellevue Middle School Principal Seth Swihart told WKRN that Aayden had just completed eighth grade when he was killed.

“Aayden had many friends and was a friendly and caring student who was easy to like and get along with,” he said.

“Our hearts break for his family, his friends and this community who have lost a young person to gun violence.”
