Wanted Cheyenne man arrested and released on bail the next day

A 40-year-old Cheyenne man is free on bail after being arrested on a warrant for criminal damage to property.

According to a warrant, Michael David Pena was arrested on Memorial Day (May 27) at 1:31 p.m. after a Laramie County Sheriff’s Corporal observed him in his gold Honda. Knowing there was a warrant for his arrest, he stopped him at 751 Avenue C.

“He came back with an arrest warrant”

“I ran Michael’s information through the dispatch center and he came back with an arrest warrant for criminal damage,” the corporal said in his comments on the probable cause of action.

The arrest warrant was signed on May 20, 2024 by Laramie County District Court Judge Thomas Lee.

Based on his arrest warrant, Pena was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center and appeared in District Court the next morning, May 28.

Pena was granted bail of $2,500, which allows him to be released from jail without posting bail, contingent on his appearance in court for his preliminary hearing, scheduled for June 5 at 1:30 p.m., and compliance with any other conditions set by the court.

If convicted, Pena faces up to ten years in prison, a fine of up to $10,000, or both.
