Accused ‘secret voyeur’ arrested in Monroe district may be connected to other incidents

MONROE, NC (NEWS FROM QUEEN CITY) — A suspected peeping tom has been arrested, and police warn that more similar incidents may occur in a Monroe neighborhood.

Monroe Police said officers responded to a spying incident in the 400 block of South Crawford Street at 7:36 a.m. on Friday, May 24.


A woman reported being surprised in her home by a man who was peeking through her window at the back of her house and exposing himself.

The man, later identified as Kendall Ra’shad Carpenter, 31, of Monroe, ran from her home while the woman called 911. Officers were able to locate Carpenter shortly after the incident.

He was arrested and charged with trespassing, spying and causing a public nuisance.

Carpenter remains in custody at the Union County Sheriff’s Office on $5,000 bail. After speaking with the woman, officers were made aware of other possible similar incidents in the neighborhood and are actively pursuing the information.
