Zoo Atlanta’s pandas are leaving | panda camera

ATLANTA — Zoo Atlanta is celebrating a “giant” milestone by having its pandas for 25 years!

Although authorities previously announced that the giant pandas would return to China at the end of the year, the zoo is celebrating their pandas’ 25th anniversary all summer, and it’s sure to be “panda-stic.”

Zoo Atlanta has four pandas, including the first twins born in the United States in more than two decades: Ya Lun and Xi Lun. The twins’ parents, Lun Lun and Yang Yang, are also at the zoo through the fourth trimester ; no specific departure date has yet been announced.

Here’s how to observe and celebrate the zoo’s pandas before they leave.

Throughout the summer, Zoo Atlanta will host cultural performances, educational activities and more about pandas from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Activities are free with the purchase of general admission and for Zoo Atlanta members. View the full zoo schedule below.

• 9:30 a.m. | Main entrance to the zoo: Chinese lion dance from the Chien Hong school of Kung Fu
• 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. | Ford Pavilion: Family DJ, activities and live chalk art from Fawne DeRosia
• 11:00 a.m. | Ford Pavilion: Dance party with Zhu Zhu, Zoo Atlanta’s panda mascot
• 12:30 p.m. | Ford Pavilion: Shaolin Institute Chinese Lion Show and Martial Arts Demonstration
• 2:00 p.m. | Ford Pavilion: Dance party with Zhu Zhu, Zoo Atlanta’s panda mascot
