Woman arrested for animal cruelty in Hollister

The third case of animal cruelty in as many months results in another arrest in Hollister. On May 23, Hollister Police Animal Care and Services, along with the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office, were executing a warrant on San Juan Canyon Road when they noticed a strong odor of feces on the property, which led to obtaining a search warrant. After obtaining the search warrant and entering the home, animal control officers say they found two cats living in unsanitary conditions. Both cats were seized from the home and taken to the Hollister Animal Shelter, where they were treated and are currently being housed. Officers originally went to the home after receiving reports that a local resident had intentionally run over a rooster and kicked chickens, injuring one. Dina Iden, 61, of Hollister, was arrested for aggravated animal cruelty and booked into the San Benito County Jail. Anyone with additional information about this case is asked to call Animal Control Officer Harvey at 831-636-4320.
