Former colleague sexually abuses woman in her twenties

Sub-Inspector M. Raghunath said the victim, who works in a private company and lives with her boyfriend Subramanyam in Sullurpet, hails from Nellore district

On Tuesday morning, Subramanyam was drinking alcohol with the woman’s former colleagues Balaji and Edumalai in Sullurpet town. Later in the evening around 9.30 pm, Balaji and Edumalai met the couple when the woman got down from her company bus at the Y junction in Sullurpet.

“When the two learned that the woman’s birthday was the next day, they persuaded the couple to visit the nearby Shivalayam temple and seek blessings. However, Balaji and Edumalai took the couple to a remote area near Damaraya, close to Pulicat Lake.

There, they beat up Subramanyam and tied him up. They forcibly took away his mobile phone and transferred money from his account to their own account through UPI payment.

Later, while Balaji was guarding the tied-up Subramanyam, Edumalai took the woman aside. He threatened that he would harm her boyfriend if she resisted. He then sexually assaulted the woman and stole her cash and mobile phone. Balaji and Edumalai then fled the area, the SI said.

The victims, along with their family members, have filed a complaint at Sriharikota police station. The police have registered the case and are investigating.
