NFL kicker Brandon McManus allegedly sexually harassed two women on a flight to London

An NFL player was accused of sexually assaulting two women on a flight to London last year.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Brandon McManus was reportedly named in a lawsuit filed by women identified only as Jane Doe I and Jane Doe II last Friday in Duval County, Florida.

The women claim that the Jaguars did not provide a safe working environment for their staff on the flight that took the team to the English capital for the NFL’s annual London Games last fall.

They accuse McManus, who now plays for the Washington Commanders, of rubbing and grinding against them during the transatlantic flight.

ESPN reported that, according to Jane Doe I, the 32-year-old athlete attempted to kiss her, and that, according to Jane Doe II, McManus “grinned and walked away” after she confronted him about his rubbing against her.

McManus’s lawyer responded to the lawsuit, which seeks more than $1 million (£780,000) in damages and a jury trial, by calling the allegations “absolutely fabricated and demonstrably false.”

“We intend to vigorously defend Brandon’s rights and integrity and clear his name by showing what these allegations really are – an extortion attempt,” Brett R. Gallaway of McLaughlin & Stern said in a statement.

The Jaguars said in a statement: “We are aware of the complaint and recognize the significance of the allegations.”

“As we continue to investigate the matter, it must be emphasized that we insist on an organization built by people who represent our community and our game with the highest character and class.”

McManus left the Jaguars after last season and has since joined the Washington Commanders on a one-year contract worth $3.6 million (£2.8 million).

“We were notified early this morning of the civil lawsuit filed against Brandon McManus on May 24,” the Commanders said in a statement.

“We take allegations of this nature very seriously and are investigating the matter. We are in contact with the league office and Brandon’s representative and will refrain from making any further comment at this time.”

McManus spent the first nine years of his ten-year NFL career with the Denver Broncos and signed with the Jaguars in May 2023.
