Illini alert issued for armed robbery near campus

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – An Illinois alert was issued early Thursday morning for an armed robbery near campus.

The University of Illinois Police Department issued an emergency alert for the intersection of Clark and Third Streets at 1:04 a.m. Later, at 1:35 a.m., the UIPD issued an all-clear, believing the suspect had left the area.

WCIA has reached out to UIPD and Champaign Police for more information, but we have not yet received a response. We will continue to provide information as we know more.
