Car crash on Hunte Parkway near Lower Otay Lake in Chula Vista

16-year-old boy hospitalized after accident on Hunte Parkway

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (May 30, 2024) – A 16-year-old boy was seriously injured in a car crash on Hunte Parkway near Lower Otay Lake in Chula Vista Wednesday morning.

The teenager was traveling westbound in a Ford pickup truck when the driver left the road in the Otay Ranch community. The pickup struck a tree and a fire hydrant when it crashed in the 1800 block of Hunte Parkway, the Times of San Diego reports.

According to the Times of San Diego, it happened on May 29 around 7:30 a.m. in San Diego County.

The Chula Vista police and paramedics rushed to the aid of those involved. When they arrived, the driver, who was also a minor, had pulled the unconscious passenger out of the vehicle.

The 16-year-old has now been taken to hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.

What caused the car crash on Hunte Parkway is currently unknown. However, police do not suspect that drugs or alcohol played a role. The case remains under investigation.
