Multiple car break-ins trigger investigations in Harborcreek Township

Masked teenager breaks into car with screwdriver

Several cars were broken into over Memorial Day weekend; police are investigating.

According to a May 30 police report, between midnight and 1 a.m. on May 25, an unknown suspect broke into seven vehicles parked in driveways along Pelham Road in Haborcreek Township.

The police are actively investigating the incident.

This confirms the statistics that car thefts have been on the rise in recent years. According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), “over 1 million vehicles were stolen in 2023, a 1% increase from 2022” and there are no signs of slowing down.

To reduce this statistic, you can follow the following tips:

  • Park in a well-lit area that is visible from multiple vantage points
  • Never leave the keys in the car
  • Before leaving, make sure all doors and windows are locked and closed
  • Use a steering wheel lock when the car is parked
