Ashanti Alert issued for Davie County woman who may be with man

MOCKSVILLE, NC – The NC Center for Missing Persons has issued an Ashanti Alert for a Davie County woman who is believed to be in danger.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about 60-year-old Cynthia Roberson Gobble to call Captain DJ Smith at the Davie County Sheriff’s Office at (336) 399-1706. Authorities said there is evidence of physical endangerment, kidnapping or abduction.

Gobble was last seen at 348 Country Lane in Mocksville, driving a white 1997 Ford F-250 pickup truck with North Carolina license plate YV1974. Authorities believe she may be headed to a home on High Rock Lake in Davidson County.

Authorities named Gregory Wayne Gobble as a suspect in the case. The 59-year-old man is said to sometimes wear a baseball shirt with the word “Colorado” on the front and sunglasses.

What is an Ashanti Alert?

An Ashanti Alert is for adults over the age of 17 (as opposed to an Amber Alert). According to the NC Center for Missing Persons, the Ashanti Alert establishes a volunteer statewide communications network to assist in the search and recovery of missing persons between the ages of 18 and 64.

The Ashanti Alert Act was passed in 2018. It was named in honour of Ashanti Billie, who was kidnapped and killed in 2017.
