Why the event occurred:

Attorney Sokol Mêngjesi represented a party that won the property dispute in the first instance and on appeal. The winning party failed to fulfill its obligations to the attorney and the law firm “ALTERUM LLC”. Some of the beneficiaries did not agree with the expenses of the law firm.

There were a total of 8 heirs that Mêngjesi represented as a lawyer, and one of the 8 heirs refused to implement the contract between Mêngjesi and the 8 heirs. The case was won in two instances by the 8 heirs represented by the lawyer. Under these circumstances, the lawyer demanded to honor the contract they made, and it is suspected that only Dritan Nano did not agree.

In this situation, there is a suspicion that Nano used his social contacts by threatening the lawyer to forgo the percentage he was supposed to receive.

The meeting a month ago was the last one before the violence, but they did not agree, as Sokol Mêngjesi claimed that he had a contract that the law firm had to implement, concerning a piece of land owned by the 8 members and on which a building is currently located.

According to the reconstruction of the incident, 3 people carried out the attack, one of whom was waiting for them in a car, while a fifth was arrested as the organizer of the attack. Dritan Nano is suspected of ordering the violence against lawyer Sokol Mêngjesi. Elton Kasaj, Drivald Alia and Romario Tabaku are still wanted. The latter was the one who drove the three perpetrators away from the crime scene in an “Audi” car. Meanwhile, the state police have offered 20,000 euros to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest of the perpetrators who are still wanted.

The organizer of the attack, Dritan Nano, was arrested yesterday, while Dorian Alia turned himself in.

Three other members involved in the attack, Elton Kasaj, Romario Tabaku and Drivald Alia, are still wanted.
