Movies in Atlanta Hotels

Do you remember the movie “Deliverance?” » Of course, the filming was done in Georgia. In fact, it put Georgia “on the grid as a film state,” according to the Georgia Department of Industry and Trade. A year after “Deliverance,” Governor Jimmy Carter created the Georgia Film Office. The industry has since grown into a $4 billion Georgia industry. You Tube DIYers love finding locations where scenes of Georgia and Atlanta in movies and TV shows were filmed. Travelers sometimes choose their hotel in Atlanta because a scene from one of their favorite movies was filmed there. Do you remember the scenes mentioned below?

Remember the elevator scene in “Hunger Games: Catching Fire?” Enter the Atlanta Marriott Marquis and walk straight into this elevator. We don’t recommend getting naked like Johanna Mason did in this scene. And, in case you didn’t know, Jennifer Lawrence wasn’t on set the day this scene was filmed, although you’d never know it from watching the movie. It certainly looks like she had been there.

Another film partially filmed at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis was “Flight,” in which Denzel Washington’s character, Whip Whitaker, gets drunk in the hotel lobby.

The Beaux Arts Candler Building dates to 1906 and was built by Atlanta Coca-Cola Co. magnate Asa Griggs Candler. In the movie “Baby Driver”, the building is depicted as Atlanta’s first bank. Movie buffs view the exterior of the magnificent building.
