Lagos man in custody for raping teenager

The Ikeja High Court on Thursday remanded 34-year-old Emenike Agugwo to a reformatory for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl.

Mr Agugwo is accused of desecration.

Prosecutor John Iberedem told the court that the suspect committed the offence on April 4 at about 7:30pm at Okesanya Street, Papa-Ajao, Lagos Barcha, Lagos.

Mr Iberedem said the suspect had sexual intercourse with the victim without her consent.

The Chief Judge, E. Kubeinje, did not accept Mr Agugwos’ plea and remanded him in custody.

She adjourned the matter to 26 June to seek advice from the Attorney General.
