What is it like to visit the Centurion Lounge in Atlanta?

During my recent visits to the Centurion Lounge at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, I had an experience that redefines airport luxury. Diverse seating areas, two outdoor terraces and excellent culinary offerings make this lounge a paradise for travelers seeking comfort and indulgence.

Location

Opened in February, Atlanta’s Centurion Lounge is the largest in the Amex lounge network, spanning more than 26,000 square feet in Concourse E near Gate E11. This location provides easy access to travelers flying with any airline operating from the world’s busiest airport. It is open every day from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Access options

To access the lounge, you must present a same-day boarding pass, valid ID and an eligible American Express card. Eligible Amex cards that offer complimentary lounge access include the Platinum, Business Platinum, Centurion, Delta SkyMiles Reserve and Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business cards. Entry is permitted within three hours before the scheduled flight departure and you cannot access the lounge after a flight has arrived. Individuals with standby tickets are not permitted unless they present a confirmed seat assignment.

The living room

The living room has numerous seating options for relaxation or productivity. The outdoor spaces, one entirely open-air with views of the runway and the other partially enclosed, offer unique locations, creating an almost park-like tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle of the airport.

The decor pays homage to Atlanta’s rich musical heritage. Portraits of icons such as Usher, Ray Charles and REM adorn the walls, while bright spaces invite guests to appreciate the beauty of creativity and history intertwined.

Food and drink

The selection of dishes, with a southern touch, is truly impressive. Chef Deborah VanTrece has crafted a menu full of delicious flavors: from pot roasts and creative soups to a hearty salad bar, homemade cornbread and decadent desserts, each dish showcases quality and taste. The all-inclusive drinks selection includes everything from espresso martinis to bespoke cocktails. But the highlight of the lounge is The Reserve whiskey bar, the first of its kind in a Centurion lounge. At the bar, a drinks menu created by Jim Meehan, an award-winning mixologist, includes specialty whiskey cocktails and an extensive selection of premium whiskeys.

Approvals

Beyond exceptional dining, the lounge offers lavish bathrooms, shower rooms for freshening up before the flight, private rooms for work or relaxation, and free high-speed Wi-Fi.

Verdict

The Atlanta Centurion Lounge exceeds the high standards set by American Express. It offers a sanctuary combining comfort, culinary delight and cultural appreciation. The lounge features a thoughtful layout and comprehensive amenities, in addition to its commitment to quality, making it a jewel in the crown of airport lounges. I’ve witnessed its evolution since its opening and can attest that the Atlanta Centurion Lounge is more than just a place to wait for your flight, it’s a destination in its own right.
