First “Taco De Fiesta” – Taco and Tequila Street Fest

Ten years ago, it was difficult to find a decent Mexican restaurant in Buffalo. These days, there seems to be one on every corner. And that’s the main reason why downtown’s Hombre y Lobo Tacos and Tequila and Buffalo Iron Works are planning a new street festival on Sunday, Aug. 4, that will feature food from more than 10 local Mexican restaurants.

Included in the ticket price, festival-goers will enjoy unlimited tacos (while supplies last), live DJ, celebrity chef, salsa classes, cooking demonstrations, among other new features. Although not an official competition per se, there will be friendly face-offs in the form of a “Top Taco Competition”, with a “Best Taco Prize”.

“This event will not only be a pleasure to attend, we are incredibly excited to produce something alongside Buffalo Iron Works,” said Isaac Domingue, co-owner of Hombre y Lobo Tacos and Tequila. “Our goal is to create a recurring event that embodies the spirit of Buffalo by uniting our Mexican restaurant community and promoting them as well. We hope the festival will allow business owners to expand their support network, see what other restaurants are doing and also make new friends. You’ll find that even though we all make tacos, each one will be unique from each other, and that’s what makes us special. Each restaurant will prepare its “best” taco and participants will be able to try them all. Restaurants will also compete for the festival’s “Top Taco Award.” Who doesn’t love a little healthy competition to connect the community?!”

The time has finally come for fans of local Mexican food to attend a new WNY-centric taco and tequila festival, with many Margs, music and verano mágico.
