Emporia issues traffic warning for Unbound Gravel

EMPORIA- (KSNT) – Thousands of cyclists are coming to Emporia for the world-famous Unbound Gravel. The city of Emporia has issued a traffic warning in advance of the event.

Each year, Unbound Gravel attracts some of the best cyclists in the world. Nearly 5,000 attendees are expected for Unbound, and organizers say more than 250 cyclists from the Emporia area will participate in the race.


The City of Emporia has announced traffic changes beginning Friday, May 31.

Starting at 8:30 a.m. Friday, the 800 block of Commercial Street will be closed to through traffic for the race. At 9 a.m., a trial ride led by Emporia police will lead about 1,000 cyclists from 8th Avenue and Commercial Street, north on Commercial Street to 12th Avenue, across to Merchant Street and then north out of Emporia.
