Robbery and shooting in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood – NBC10 Philadelphia

Correction (30 May 2024, 06:30): Philadelphia Police initially clarified that an off-duty officer was involved in this incident, but the employment status of those involved is currently unknown.

A person may have fired shots at one or more people they were robbing in the Kensington neighborhood early Thursday morning, police investigators said.

The robbery and shooting occurred around 5:10 a.m. in the 2100 block of East Westmoreland Street, said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small.

The would-be robber or robbers opened fire first, then another person returned fire, Small said.

In total, at least twelve shots were fired from two weapons, police said.

It was not clear whether anyone was injured.
