Teenager allegedly raped in employment office in Barpeta

Barpeta, May 30: In a horrific incident, a 14-year-old boy was allegedly raped by a middle-aged man on May 28 inside the employment office premises in Barpeta.

The shocking crime came to light when the victim told her relatives about the sexual abuse she had suffered.

Allegedly, on May 28, after committing the sexual assault, the accused attempted to cover up the heinous act by offering the boy small amounts of money and food.

However, the victim’s cousin reacted quickly and immediately filed a complaint with the Barpeta police station, which led to the immediate arrest of the perpetrator.

According to reports, this was not the first time that the minor fell victim to the advances of the alleged perpetrator. The accused had previously tried to lure the boy in various ways.

The incident has sparked outrage among the local population.

Meanwhile, the Barpeta police have registered a case (215/2024) under Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the accused was produced before the court on May 29.
