It is expected to bring up to 2 inches of rain.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Good morning everyone, I hope you had a fantastic start to your day as we are expecting temperatures in our area between 80 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit with a chance of rain throughout the day.

We’ll have a nice and mild day, with a slight chance of thunderstorms developing during the morning and late afternoon. I recommend getting your rain gear ready early in the morning, as we expect heavier rain early Thursday morning.

We expect only gusty winds from some of these storms as we are expected to remain below the severity threshold.

In our area we could see 1 to 2 inches of rain today.

There is a slight risk (level 1/5) of a few strong thunderstorms developing along the Mississippi River during Friday, most common in the afternoon and evening. The main threat will be damaging winds and small hail.

Even if temperatures drop during the day tomorrow, the probability of rain remains, as at least isolated thunderstorms are possible until the end of May.

June 1st also marks the start of hurricane season in the Atlantic basin and we will keep you updated on the forecast here at home and at sea.
