2024 American Outlook Survey – Atlanta

According to a new study published today by KPMG LLP, an American audit, tax and consulting firm.

This survey of more than 400 adults in Atlanta is part of the first KPMG American Perspectives Survey, which assessed the opinions of an additional 1,100 adults nationwide to understand their perspectives on their personal financial situation and the economy American, their spending plans and preferences, as well as attitudes toward the forces that shape their experience in banking, energy, government, automobiles, health care and technology.

The report examines this outlook through the lens of compound volatility: the combination of near-term risks, such as geopolitical and technological disruptions, and longer-term structural changes to the U.S. economy, including the energy transition and persistent inflation.

Insights from David Leiter, managing partner of KPMG’s Atlanta office:

Key takeaways: “The profound impact on Atlanta residents of disruptive events and powerful structural changes is clear. Even though the majority of people are optimistic about their personal financial situation compared to the national average, they are actively adopting new shopping habits and looking for deals where they can. Generative AI is becoming more and more pervasive in the daily lives of Atlantans, and we look forward to government agencies using this technology to improve key public services such as the DMV and health benefits.

On expectations from GenAI: “While Atlantans are still learning how GenAI fits into their daily lives, we know the technology is here to stay. We see generational differences when it comes to using GenAI for various purposes, and nearly half of Atlantans agree that the technology has a notable impact on their personal and professional lives.
