Birmingham police are investigating after a man was found dead in his front yard

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham police are conducting a homicide investigation after a man was found dead Tuesday afternoon.

According to BPD, officers were dispatched to the 6800 block of 1st Avenue South after reports of a person being shot around 3:20 p.m. An adult man was shot and found unresponsive in the front yard of a residence at the scene.

The Birmingham Fire Department arrived on scene and pronounced the man dead.

Initial investigations indicate that a passing driver observed the victim and then called the police. No one is currently in custody and details are limited. If you have any information, contact BPD at 205-254-1764.
